Designer Interface Explained

The following is a screen shot of what you see when you first open Designer.

  Name Description
1 Stage The stage is a representation of the current page you are on. Items placed on the stage will be included in the generated PDF output.
2 Pasteboard

For PDF output, items placed on the pasteboard, or items that overflow onto the pasteboard are not included in the generated PDF.

Note: If you place a picture box where 3/4 is on the stage and 1/4 overflows onto the pasteboard, and request a preview. the resulting PDF will only show 3/4 of the image that are on the stage.

3 Page Navigation and Outline Panels

By default, the 'Page navigation' panel is active when you first open Designer. While the page navigation panel is active, right clicking on a page allows you to add pages and sections.


The 'Outline' panel shows you the order of items on the stage. Clicking the 'outline' tab will hide the page navigation panel and display the outline panel.

4 Properties Panel Allows you to control various properties of the currently selected page, section or Document. Clicking the corresponding (page, section or document) tab displays the matching properties.
5 Tools Menu

Available tools that can be added to the stage:

  • Text Box
  • Picture Box
  • Shared WidgetsClosed A library of pre-configured layouts that can be used in multiple documents
6 Zoom Control

Zoom in/out of your document to maximize efficiency when working.
